Getting Fit With Jill K Fitness

Healthy living doesn’t have to be hard. At least that’s what Jill of Jill K Fitness believes. She started Jill K Fitness to help women embrace their bodies and provide simple tips to a fitter, healthier body, not just one that looks better. We recently sat down with Jill and got her perspective on everything from health and workout tips to food and family. Check out our interview with her below and connect with her on Instagram for all sorts of fun food and fitness tips.

Takeya: What inspired you to start?

Jill K Fitness: I started Jill K Fitness because I wanted a way to reach more people to teach them about health and fitness and all the benefits that come from living a healthy lifestyle. I also wanted to show women you don’t need to have a six pack to be fit, and to focus more on what you can do with your body, not how it looks. What’s one food (or meal) you could not live without? Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows I have a pretty serious relationship with tacos. I like me a good hole-in-the-wall taco restaurant. People have this idea that fitness influencers on Instagram don’t have rough days when they want to stop or give up.

Takeya: How do you stay motivated?

Jill K Fitness: I definitely have my days and weeks when I just want to quit everything and hide and do nothing but eat donuts and tacos and donut tacos. The way I can pull myself out of my funk is to take some time to myself to regroup and write out some goals and a life plan. It may sound silly, but getting excited about all the possibilities in life get my motor running again to set out and kick butt in the gym and in business.

Takeya:  How do you decide that a workout/tip is worth sharing?

Jill K Fitness: I spent the majority of my life knowing absolutely nothing about eating right and working out, so I try to share all the info that literally blew my mind as I learned about it back in the day (Like, cereal all day isn’t an effective meal plan).

Takeya: What is the best piece of fitness advice you were given or have learned?

Jill K Fitness: Love your body at every stage, because if you don’t love it, you won’t treat it well and won’t reach your health and fitness goals.

Takeya: What is your favorite season and why?

Jill K Fitness: Favorite season is Fall, hands down. I love Halloween and Thanksgiving, and the temperature is perfect. Unfortunately for me, it lasts about 2 weeks here in Utah.

Takeya: How does health and healthy living play a role in your (you, your family, your children, etc.) life?

Jill K Fitness: By taking care of myself, I’m better able to take care of my kids. Honestly, living a healthy lifestyle has helped me to appreciate my body. I work hard to take care of myself AND love my body. I have two daughters that don’t need body image issues passed on to them.

Takeya: What’s one simple thing you do every day to be just a little bit healthier?

Jill K Fitness: One simple thing I do every day is drink at least 100 ounces of water. By drinking enough water, I have more long-lasting energy, I reduce donut cravings, and I just feel better. I fill up my 40oz ThermoFlask 3 times a day :)

Takeya: What is one of your favorite inspirational quotes?

Jill K Fitness: Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” – Earl Nightingale

Takeya:  What’s your favorite music to work out to?

Jill K Fitness: I’m partial to Rage against the Machine and Beastie Boys. It helps me lift heavy weights.
