Lemonade You'll Be Sipping All Summer Long

Although the official start to summer is still a few weeks away still, it’s definitely time to take dining and entertaining outside. The smell of the grill, warm sun on your skin and a refreshing glass of lemonade. While traditional lemonade has its place, try this grown up version with a hint of watermelon and splash of mint flavor. It’s simple, low-cal, and sure to be a crowd pleaser.

THE LEMONADE YOU’LL BE SIPPING ALL SUMMER LONG May 24, 2017      Although the official start to summer is still a few weeks away still, it’s definitely time to take dining and entertaining outside. The smell of the grill, warm sun on your skin and a refreshing glass of lemonade. While traditional lemonade has its place, try this grown up version with a hint of watermelon and splash of mint flavor. It’s simple, low-cal, and sure to be a crowd pleaser.  RECIPE  1 1/4 cup vodka 1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice 3 cups water 3 cups watermelon juice  1 tablespoon sugar (or to taste) A few sprigs of fresh mint  DIRECTIONS  Start by juicing the watermelon. Simply blend cubed watermelon and strain. Combine the fresh squeezed watermelon juice, lemon juice and water to a pitcher. Add vodka (or omit for an equally refreshing mocktail)! Stir or shake until combined. While the fresh watermelon juice has a natural sweetness, feel free to add sugar to taste.  For maximum enjoyment:  Serve up your spiked lemonade in an insulated tumbler so you can enjoy chilled refreshment from first sip to finish.  Muddle a few mint leaves in the bottom of the tumbler, and then add ice, lemonade and a sprig of mint for garnish.  Sit back, relax and enjoy. Cheers!  Please enjoy responsibly.
