Iced tea can be brewed two ways: flash chilled for immediate refreshment, or cold brewed for a slower, smoother steep. For fresh iced tea in minutes, the flash chill method uses hot water to draw out bold, full flavor before chilling instantly over ice. For a slower, smoother steep, the cold brew method uses cold water and time to gently extract softer, naturally sweeter notes from teas and herbs.
Both methods are simple, refreshing, and made for your everyday tea ritual — whether you want iced tea now or a cold brew waiting in the fridge.
Cold Brew instructions couldn’t be simpler - review them here. Cold brew timing depends on the tea type. For green teas and black teas, we recommend tasting at the 4-hour mark to see if you like the flavor and the strength. For oolong teas and herbal teas, we recommend 8-16 hours. Taste until you find the sweet spot for your taste buds.
Experiment to see if you prefer a tea flash chilled or cold brewed, as there are some teas (like oolong teas and certain herbals – like chamomile) that often taste better when brewed in cold water. Bonus, you’ll be super hydrated by the time you discover the most delicious outcome.
There are 4 tips to enjoy the very best cold brew tea:
- Use good tea – fresh, high-quality whole leaf tea = better, fresher flavors.
- Cold, filtered water –start with a pure canvas so that you can appreciate all of the subtle nuances that are steeped when you use cold water.
- Airtight – Since you are steeping for a long period of time in the refrigerator, the airtight function of our Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker will lock in all of the fresh flavors and prevent your tea from absorbing leftovers lingering in your fridge. And then once you have removed the infuser with the tea/herbs, our airtight seal will keep the flavors of the brewed tea fresh until you’ve finished the last sip.
- Tea Quantity/Water – finding that sweet spot. Try 1 tablespoon per cup of water but experiment with 1 tsp for a more delicate flavor, to see what’s the most delicious (depending on the tea type). Bonus, our premium infuser provides the tea/herbs with the space that they need to move about and expand to properly extract all of the flavors tucked within.
