ARE TAKEYA BOTTLES AND PITCHERS MICROWAVE SAFE?
Actives, Originals and Traveler Stainless Steel bottles are not microwave safe.
Tritan™ Bottles and Pitchers can be used in the microwave. Before using any container in the microwave, please remove the lid to allow ventilation. Remove the infusers and filters. Take care when removing the container from the microwave as contents and the surface of the bottle or pitcher will be hot. Use caution when replacing the lid as the steam buildup can cause harm. It is advisable to allow the heated liquids to cool to a drinkable temperature before handling the bottle or pitcher. Overheating of any container in the microwave can be dangerous.
ACTIVES AND ORIGINALS BOTTLE QUESTIONS
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CLEAN MY BOTTLE?
We recommend cleaning your bottle and lid after each day of use to ensure it remains mold and germ free.
All of our lids are top rack dishwasher safe and we encourage you to wash them that way especially if you drink something other than water.
CAN I PUT MY TAKEYA BOTTLE IN THE DISHWASHER?
Most of our bottles are dishwasher safe. Note, however, that harsh detergents and hot water may affect the appearance of your bottle over prolonged use. The only bottles that are not dishwasher safe are painted bottles - Brushed Stainless Steel, Rose Gold and Slate.
Our lids are top rack dishwasher safe and we encourage you to wash them that way especially if you drink something other than water to keep them mold and germ free.
MY BOTTLE SAYS HAND WASH ONLY ON THE BOTTOM. IS IT DISHWASHER SAFE?
We are continuously testing and improving our products. After extensive testing, we have proved that our bottles are now in fact able to be cleaned in the dishwasher.
While we recommend a daily hand wash to maintain the cleanest conditions, note that you can place your bottle in the dishwasher.
We recommend that all lids be placed in the top rack.
Note that this does not apply to any bottles with a metallic colored coating (such as slate, brushed silver, or ash rose).
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MY BOTTLE?
Do not use in microwave or freezer.
Do not use on stove for cooking.
Allow hot liquids to cool to a drinkable temperature prior to sealing lid.
Do not overfill product.
Hot liquids can scald you. Keep out of reach of children when filled with hot liquids.

Here are some tips from our team to help keep your beverage ice cold:
Pre-cool your bottle before you fill for use. Pre-cool the inside of your bottle with ice and cold water before putting in your beverage of choice.
Add ice to the rim of your bottle then add water for all-day cold hydration.

CAN I PUT CARBONATED BEVERAGES IN MY BOTTLE?
Yes, you can put carbonated beverages in your double-wall stainless steel bottles. However, we urge you to use carefully as carbonated beverages in an airtight container may cause a build-up of pressure which could cause your bottle to leak or the liquid to splash out unexpectedly when you open your bottle. Use with caution.
I LOST THE O-RINGS IN MY TAKEYA BOTTLE THAT MAKE IT LEAKPROOF. CAN I PURCHASE NEW ONES?

WHAT IS MY TAKEYA STAINLESS STEEL BOTTLE MADE OF?
All Takeya stainless steel bottles are made of food-grade 18/8 stainless steel (18% chromium / 8% nickel ) and feature a durable powder coated finish. The lids are made of BPA-Free plastic (PP#5) and feature silicone o-rings to create a leak-proof seal.
IT LOOKS LIKE MY BOTTLE HAS RUST - IS THIS NORMAL?
Stainless steel contains chromium which, when exposed to oxygen in the atmosphere forms a thin invisible layer called chromium oxide. This invisible layer gives stainless steel its ability to resist stains and rust. If this layer is damaged, rust is formed on the surface at the point of that damage.
Removal of oxidized stains and even “surface rust” can be done by using a paste made from baking soda and water or a cleanser that contains oxalic acid, such as Bar Keeper's Friend Soft Cleanser. If using baking soda and water, use a cloth or soft bristle brush, and rub the baking soda in the direction of the grain. This may take a little effort, but this will remove these soils.
HOW LONG DO YOUR BOTTLES KEEP LIQUIDS COLD?
Our stainless steel bottles keep liquids cold for up to 24 hours.
To keep liquids cold for as long as possible, use cold liquids and larger ice cubes in your bottle.

WILL MY BOTTLE SWEAT?
Yes. Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces. If your bottle is filled with ice cold liquids condensation will form on the bottle as would a glass of ice water.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY TAKEYA PITCHER/DRINKMAKER?
Glad you asked! Here are a few important guidelines and cleaning instructions.
Cold Brew Coffee Maker/Iced Tea Maker/Airtight Pitcher/Flavor Infusion: Dishwasher safe, hand wash to extend longevity.
Tea Infuser/Coffee Filter: Allow hot tea leaves to cool then tap upside down in trash bin to remove contents and rinse. Dispose coffee grounds in trash, turn upside down and tap under running water. Note: If tea/coffee has dried, simply run water over to soften then dispose.
For both tea infuser and coffee filter, Hand wash using soft bottle brush to clean fine mesh.
For deep cleaning, soak in a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar, then clean with soap and water.
IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE A LITTLE SEDIMENT IN MY COLD BREW COFFEE?
Since cold brew coffee is created by allowing coffee grounds and water to steep for an extended period of time, some sediment in your cold brew coffee is completely normal.
To reduce the amount of sediment transfer:
When twisting the filter into the lid before brewing, make sure that the filter is properly attached so that it creates an airtight seal preventing grounds from getting into the coffee.
After brewing is complete and you remove the filter from the lid, make sure to rinse the interior of the lid (where grounds may have settled while shaking to moisten grounds), before serving/sealing the pitcher airtight.
HOW MUCH LOOSE-LEAF TEA SHOULD I USE IN THE FLASH CHILL ICED TEA MAKER?
We recommend using approximately 4-6 tablespoons of tea with our 1 quart Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker and approximately 8-10 tablespoons of tea with our 2 quart Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker. Note:

ARE ALL OF YOUR PITCHERS AND DRINKMAKERS BPA FREE?
All Takeya products and accessories are BPA-free.
Our pitchers and drinkmakers are made from high-quality, BPA-free Tritan™, which can withstand boiling hot and ice cold temperatures.
CAN I USE TEA BAGS IN THE FLASH CHILL ICED TEA MAKER?
Yes, you can use either loose-leaf tea or tea bags. We recommend approximately 4-6 small tea bags with our 1 Quart Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker and 8-10 tea small bags with our two quart.
Note: These are suggested measurements and depend on the brand/type of tea and your personal preference of tea strength/flavor.
HOW MUCH COFFEE SHOULD I USE IN THE COLD BREW COFFEE MAKER?
For the 1 QT. Cold Brew Coffee Maker, we recommend that you 1¼ cups (approx 106 grams) of your favorite coarsely ground coffee.

CAN YOU MAKE TEA IN THE COLD BREW COFFEE FILTER?
Yes, you can make tea in the Cold Brew Coffee filter. Although, we do recommend that you use two separate filters: one for your tea and one for your coffee to ensure that the flavors remain distinct and fresh.
Please note that the Cold Brew Coffee Maker filter is made of a finer mesh than the iced tea filter. As a result, we don't recommend making cold brew coffee in the Iced Tea Maker, as the tea filter doesn't filter out coarse grounds as well as the cold brew filter.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TAKEYA TRAVELER AND ACTIVES LINE?
The Takeya Traveler was engineered for the enjoyment of hot beverages. A new lid with leakproof security and a wide contoured lip are combined with our 18/8 double-wall stainless steel bottle to create the ultimate travel mug. The aerated lid allows for an easy, steady flow for better enjoyment of hot beverages. The 17oz capacity aligns with the sizes at your favorite coffee and tea shops for an Earth friendly replacement of paper cups. Cold beverages can also be used in the Traveler.
Note: Traveler bottle and lids are not compatible with Actives or Originals bottles and accessories.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY TRAVELER?
We recommend rinsing out your Traveler bottle and lid under warm running water after each use. You can also wash your Traveler in the dishwasher.
Note, however that harsh detergents and hot water may affect the appearance of your bottle over prolonged use. The Traveler lid is top rack dishwasher safe.
Should you not want to put your Traveler in a dishwasher, the exterior of the bottle can be cleaned using warm water and dishwashing liquid and a soft cloth. The interior of the bottle can be cleaned using dishwashing liquid and then rinsed thoroughly. Use a baking soda and water paste to help remove coffee stains.
Do not use cleansers with harsh chemicals like bleach or chlorine as they can ruin your bottle.
HOW LONG WILL LIQUIDS STAY HOT/COLD
Hot liquids will stay hot for up to 12 hours. Cold liquids will stay cold for up to 24 hours.
WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED FILL LEVEL FOR HOT BEVERAGES?
It is not recommended to overfill the Traveler to prevent spilling of hot liquids when screwing in the lid. Do not overfill past the lowest indentation in the neck of the bottle. Use caution at all times when handling hot liquids.
HOW DO YOU LOCK THE TRAVELER LID?
The Traveler is 100% leakproof when closed and locked. Ensure that no liquids have pooled in the contoured lip before closing. Press down securely on the lid until it clicks. Press down on the lock tab until the red label is visible. When the red tab is visible the lid is locked and the open button will not work. Simply press up on the tab to disengage the lock, and press the button to open.
WILL THE TRAVELER FIT IN MY CAR CUPHOLDER?
The Traveler fits most standard cupholders.
CAN I PLACE MY BOTTLE IN THE MICROWAVE?
No, the Traveler bottle is constructed from double-wall insulated Stainless Steel and is not microwave safe.
HOW DO I REMOVE THE O-RING AND SIP PLUG?
Remove the existing silicone O-ring from the bottom of the Traveler lid by gently pulling on the exposed edge. To remove the existing Sip Plug from the inside of the FlipLockÔ cap, gently pull up while holding the lid open.
WILL MY ORIGINALS SPOUT LID FIT THE TRAVELER?
No. The Traveler has a narrow neck that is not compatible with the Takeya Wide Neck lids. The Spout and Straw lids are not compatible with the Traveler.
IS THE TRAVELER BPA FREE?
Yes. The bottle is made from 18/8 food grade stainless steel and is BPA free. The lid, Sip Plug and O-Ring are also BPA-Free.
DO THE BUMPERS FIT THE TRAVELER?
No, the bumpers for the Actives bottles do not fit the Traveler bottle. The Traveler features a built-in silicone coaster on the bottom of the bottle to minimize dents and for a quiet set down.
HOW CAN I MAXIMIZE THE HEAT RETENTION OF MY TRAVELER?
Preheat your Traveler by filling it with hot water. Screw on the lid and let stand for at least five minutes. Empty the water and fill with the desired beverage. Drink with caution as contents will stay hot for an extended period.

WHAT IS THE COMFORT SIP LID?
The Comfort Sip lid is a patented flip-top lid that lets you easily sip on hot or cold beverages.
It is compatible with all Takeya wide neck bottles. Please note that the Comfort Sip lid is not leakproof.
CAN YOU USE HOT AND COLD BEVERAGES IN THE COMFORT SIP BOTTLE?
The Comfort Sip lid can be used with both hot and cold beverages. The flip top gives you easy access without having to remove the lid. The wide opening is great for sipping hot beverages.
