Learn the art of making smooth, refreshing cold brew tea at home with the Takeya Iced Tea Maker. Whether you’re brewing with the 1-quart or 2-quart model, this easy cold brew tea recipe shows you how to slowly steep tea in cold water for a clean, balanced flavor, with simple tips to help you find your perfect strength and steep time.
2 Quart Iced Tea Maker – Cold Brew method
1. Add Tea
Add 8 tablespoons/8 tea bags of tea into the tea infuser with the extender attached. Twist the infuser with extender into the lid*
2. Add Water & Cold Brew
Fill the pitcher with 7¾ cups of cold water **
Lower the infuser into the pitcher, seal the lid airtight, and steep in the refrigerator.
Cold brew timing can vary depending on the tea type and the form of tea you are using, such as whole leaf tea, loose leaf tea, or tea bags. We recommend beginning to taste after 1 hour, then continuing to steep until you reach your preferred flavor and strength. Some teas may be ready sooner, while others can cold brew for several hours or overnight.
Once brewed, twist the lid open, lift the top handle of the lid with the infuser attached out of the tea, place it into the infuser holder, and twist to detach the infuser from the lid. Clean the infuser immediately.
3. Enjoy & Store
When ready to serve, twist the lid open aligning the arrow on the lid with the spout for a steady pour. Pour over ice and enjoy.
After serving, seal the lid airtight and store in the refrigerator (store upright or on its side).
* Note: If this is the first use, clean pitcher/components, dry and reassemble.
** Water level may vary depending on the size and volume of your tea leaves or tea blend. Larger or fuller blends may take up more space in the pitcher, so adjust the amount of water as needed.
