RECIPE: STRAWBERRY MINT ICED SENCHA GREEN TEA

Juicy strawberries bring a soft, natural sweetness to sencha green tea, while fresh mint adds a cool, aromatic lift. Flash chilled in minutes, the tea is then combined with fresh fruit and herbs directly in the pitcher, giving the flavors time to develop. Served over ice with muddled strawberries and mint, this Strawberry Mint Iced Sencha Green Tea is crisp, fragrant, and beautifully refreshing.

Strawberry Mint Iced Sencha Green Tea Recipe

Makes: One 2-quart Iced Tea Maker pitcher, with individually prepared servings

Ingredients

For the Sencha Green Tea

  • 8 tablespoons loose-leaf sencha green tea
  • 4 cups water
  • Ice, for flash chilling

For the Fruit & Herb Infusion

  • 8 large strawberries, hulled and cut into pieces
  • 10 fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped or torn

For Each Individual Serving

  • 1 strawberry, hulled and sliced
  • 5 fresh mint leaves
  • Ice

1. Prepare the Strawberry and Mint

Before brewing the tea, hull and cut 4 strawberries into pieces for the pitcher infusion.

Roughly chop or tear 10 fresh mint leaves. Set the strawberries and mint aside while you prepare the sencha green tea.

2. Add Tea

Add 8 tablespoons of loose sencha green tea into the tea infuser with the extender attached. Twist the infuser with extender into the lid.

3. Add Water & Brew

Fill the pitcher halfway with cold water (4 cups). Pour cold water into electric or stovetop kettle & heat to 170 degrees Fahrenheit, the ideal temperature for sencha green tea. Pour the hot water into the Iced Tea Maker, filling it halfway.

Slowly lower the tea infuser into the water and twist once, allowing steam to vent. Do not seal the lid closed while steam is venting. Brew for two minutes. Once brewed, lift the top handle of the lid with the infuser attached out of the tea, place it into the infuser holder, and twist to detach the infuser from the lid. If you prefer your tea slightly sweet, you can stir in honey while the tea is still warm.

4. Flash Chill

Fill the entire pitcher with ice. Seal the lid airtight and shake for 30 seconds to flash chill. Clean the infuser immediately.

5. Infuse with Strawberry and Mint

After flash chilling, remove 1 cup of sencha green tea from the pitcher to create room for the fruit and mint.

Add the 8 cut strawberries and 10 chopped or torn mint leaves directly to the pitcher. Seal the lid airtight and shake gently to begin releasing the flavor of the strawberries and mint. Refrigerate for a few hours, allowing the sencha green tea to infuse with the fruit and herbs. Store the pitcher upright or on its side. Enjoy the 1 cup of sencha (removed to make room for the fruit), while you wait for the infusion.

6. Assemble Each Glass

For each serving, add 1 sliced strawberry  to the glass.Gently muddle the strawberry to release more berry flavor. Add mint leaves and ice to the glass. Twist the pitcher lid open, aligning the arrow on the lid with the spout for a steady pour. Pour the infused Strawberry Mint Iced Sencha Green Tea over the ice. Finish with more fresh mint leaves.

After serving, seal the lid airtight and store in the refrigerator (store upright or on its side).
