A fresh reset for your Takeya Sport Bottle starts with a monthly deep clean.
While your Takeya does not need the dishwasher every day, we recommend a deeper clean about once a month to help keep every sip fresh.
-
Start by removing the bumper and lid. Handwashing the bumper separately.
For straw bottles, remove the straw, then remove the O-ring and gasket from the interior of the lid.
For spout bottles, remove the large O-ring from the interior of the lid and the small O-ring from the interior of the spout cover.
-
Place the bottle upside down on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.
-
Place the lids on the top rack with the straw and spout covers open to help water reach hard-to-clean areas. For smaller pieces like O-rings, gaskets, and straws, place them in the utensil basket or a small-parts basket to keep everything secure during the wash cycle.
-
Run the dishwasher using your normal cycle.
-
For the deepest clean, soak your O-rings and gaskets overnight in a 50/50 mix of warm water and white vinegar.
-
In the morning, rinse the O-rings and gaskets thoroughly with clean water.
-
After removing from the dishwasher (or O-rings/gasket from deep clean vinegar soak), leave all parts open to air dry fully before reassembling. Make sure the straw lid or spout lid stays open while drying to help prevent moisture from getting trapped.
-
Once everything is completely dry, reassemble your Takeya Sport Bottle by placing the O-rings and gaskets back into the lid, adding the bumper back onto the bottle, and twisting the lid back on.
-
Pro tip: To make sure your O-rings are securely in place, press them back into the lid or spout, then twist the lid onto the bottle to gently press them into position.
